I would love to see the farmers market back at USF. It was cool while it was here, although kind of strange to be on a weekend. This is a university; classes take place during the week. Why would they choose to make the market on the day the fewest people would be here?
Hunter, the NaanWiches were technically expired. That is to say, the sell-by date had passed, which is why they were on clearance. However, were they expired enough to cause illness? Probably not. Many people ate them and I have not heard of masses of sick students being rushed to the ER due to old NaanWich consumption. Nevertheless, if that date says it’s no good, then it’s best not to take chances.
Also, interesting about the summer food poisoning incident. If I was visiting my prospective college and ended up having to go to the hospital, I’d probably take it as a bad sign and withdraw!
Overall I have never had a problem with Bon Appetit’s quality or service. In fact, I am usually very happy with them, probably moreso than the average student. Still, incidents like this cannot be tolerated.
While not everyone may agree with this opinion, it is a commonly held perspective in the country. Lindsey, thank you for being brave enough to express your views, which, at USF are not commonly held. I hope this piece generates some intelligent discussions. Stay tuned in the next issue when the Foghorn plans to run a rebuttal column.
I am very excited to see the new website unveiled. The current one leaves a lot to be desired. It’s so hard to find simple information! Hopefully it will be more user-friendly, and also look more modern.
It is awesome to see so many alumni coming back to reminisce about their time at USF and working at the radio station. I know I would be heartbroken if I found out the Foghorn was out of business ten years from now.
I know I barely noticed the Phoenix before; now it’s hard not to notice. Some people are saying it looks tacky (I’ve heard the phrase “bedazzled” frequently), but I think it’s alright. Better than being plain like it was before.
I think it’s awesome that we have such a renowned coach here at USF. It is really too bad that more people don’t know about the team or go to their games.
And they can’t even play on the soccer field all the time because USF lets people outside the school use it instead??? Shame..
This is an amazing follow-up on the piece you wrote last spring. I’m glad to hear the University won’t be selling more historical items from the room. The million dollars for renovations seems unnecessary though, at least for now. Can’t they be postponed until the economic climate is a little more promising?
I’m sorry if you don’t think I covered this fairly. It is my job to cover all sides and let readers be aware of the issue, not to persuade people that it’s a big deal and that one side is right and the other is wrong. I am also not at liberty to print hearsay and rumors that cannot be verified.
There is no way that Ricky could have written this, being so heavily involved in the issue and obviously partial to one side.
While we’ve printed our final issue of the year, there is more than enough room for opinion columns in the community section online. Please consider writing one or encouraging your friends too!
as for the story, very interesting results.. i was surprised. not that bobby won — i really had no idea who would win — but that he won by such a large margin. who knew.
either way i’m excited to see so many students caring about voting and their future senators. i hope it wasn’t ALL about the free jamba.
That’s a great point Annie. I hope this is addressed soon. I don’t think anyone is opposed to the idea of men and women sharing the resource center, but the name is definitely problematic.
This is a great article. I had no idea this was going on and can’t believe students would take an act of goodwill done completely for their benefit and act so disrespectful. Oh wait, yes I can.
What a fine example of entertaining and informative writing. I can see a lot of people being fooled by these faux health foods, myself included. And I had no idea about the lawsuit against vitamin water. Very interesting. Thanks!
This is a very well written article about what sounds like a great event. Sad I couldn’t make it due to class. But I really appreciate how the newly revamped Judaic Studies minor seems to incorporate social justice into every aspect of even the most traditional Jewish holidays.
Thank you for the clarification anonymous senator.
Although the finance committee is not made up of senators by majority, senate does hold the largest voting block compared to any other funded account, and the committee is chaired by the Senate VP of business and finance. Though not all senators are on the finance committee and vice versa, the two groups are still pretty closely intertwined.
Therefore, it is not unfair to suggest that a group of individuals in charge of approving all the requested budgets might favor their own groups over others, which is clearly what has occurred.
There is simply no justification for raising one account’s budget almost $14,000 at the expense of every other account.
I love the photo! You make such a beautiful model.
but i dunno… to me dropping $188 on a dress that looks “depression chic” is kind of making light of the serious economic hardships a lot of people are really facing.
I went here with my Eating San Francisco class a few weeks ago. The food really is good, and they definitely can accomodate a big party. I especially appreciate the reasonable prices. Many entrees are around $10, which is very good for North Beach dining. Great review!
it’s so hard to picture what the Fog N Grog was like when it was really open. If the school really wants to start making some good money, they ought to reopen the Fog N Grog.. especially if they didn’t check ID. CHA-CHING!!!
