For many years, the University Center on the main campus has displayed the symbol of hope and rebirth known as the phoenix. As the legend goes, this magical bird at the end of its life sets into flames and is reborn from the ashes. This majestic symbol hardly gained any attention from the students or faculty on campus until one of the most talented art professors, Father Tom Lucas, sat gazing at the phoenix one late afternoon and became inspired.
