People “rocked against rape” during the first annual Jammin for Justice last Saturday, a concert that raises awareness about sexual violence and money for the Women Community’s Clinic, a clinic that provides improvised women basic needs and counseling for victims of sexual violence.

After a tumultuous semester for the USF Community, it looks as if we will soon be getting our very own Women’s Resource Center (WRC), dubbed the “Peer Educators Women's Resource Center (PEWRC)” that will be turned over to students to operate.

Alex Platt, ASUSF president and USFtv programming director, is anything but a “weak little girl.” She will tell you so herself. Despite this, the junior media studies major found herself treated differently from her male colleagues during her media internship last summer.

Rev. and USF president Stephen Privett, S.J sat at the back of the room, his chin rested upon his left thumb as he concentrated on the forum. Most students were mesmerized by the guest speakers and the almost overwhelming information presented. There were a few students whose eyes wandered, but after just seconds their attention was jerked back to the guest speakers by powerful words such as “violence against women,” “violence against children” and “genital mutilation.”

With colorful paintings depicting various parts of the female body displayed on stage in the Presentation Theater, several key members from the production team of "The Vagina Monologues" hosted a panel discussion that focused on the criticism that the provocative series of speeches prompts. Along with these members of the USF faculty, director Meg O'Connor and cast member Megan Pohlman, a sophomore psychology major, tackled the topic of why some groups object to the performance that Novak described as a community ritual.
